Harry Teichman appointed

to volunteer advisory boards

Akerman Senterfitt associate Harry P. Teichman is the new sergeant-at-arms for the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division's board of governors.

The Tampa tax attorney also recently was elected to serve on the Junior Achievement's Hillsborough County board of directors.

Besides that volunteer work, he also serves as deputy chair of the new tax lawyers committee of the bar's tax section.

A graduate of the City University of New York, Teichman earned a law degree in 1998 from the University of Miami School of Law and then a masters of laws degree in taxation from New York University.

Robert Williams to serve

on national alumni board

Akerman Senterfitt shareholder Robert S. Williams is a newly elected member of the Georgetown University National Law Alumni Board.

The Tampa attorney practices in the firm's corporate and tax practice group. Williams earned a masters of laws in taxation from the Georgetown Law Center in 1995, while on leave from his job as an Internal Revenue Service agent in Miami

Legal Services coordinator

receives certification

Jane Helms, pro bono coordinator, of Gulfcoast Legal Services in Pinellas County is the first coordinator to be certified by the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals, an organization formed in 1987.

Macfarlane Ferguson

hires new associate

Jeffrey W. Gibson is a new associate at Tampa's Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen PA. A graduate of the University of Tampa, Gibson earned a law degree in 2001 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Florida council honors

Judge William Fuente

Hillsborough Circuit Judge William Fuente recently received the Judicial Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency during a ceremony at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa. The annual award is given to a Florida judge for his work.

In its selection, the council cited Fuente's ability to fairly and efficiently administer his judicial caseload.

First appointed in 1994 as a county judge, Fuente was appointed as circuit judge in July 1997.
