Bonita Spring mattress chain buys plot in shopping center for new Cape Coral store

City Mattress will build a new location at Cape Coral Commons. The store is set to open later this year.

A Bonita Springs mattress retailer will build a new a store in Cape Coral.

City Mattress has bought a 1.26-acre plot at Cape Coral Commons, a new shopping center development at Pine Island Road and Del Prado Boulevard.

The new location will be City Mattress’ eighth. The chain, which traces its roots to Buffalo, New York, in 1964, has 27 stores in New York and Florida according to its website.

Construction of the store will be complete late this year.

Cape Coral Commons is 13 acres and being developed by Indiana-based Thompson Thrift Retail Group, which began construction in April 2020. The center’s current roster of tenants includes Tire Kingdom, First Watch, Mission BBQ, Firehouse Subs and and Love Boat Ice Cream. 

Colliers, which represented City Mattress, did not disclose the sale price and county property records have not been updated.
