A New Jersey aviation company has opened a brand-new 30,000-square-foot hangar at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. Aircraft Services Group hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility Oct. 1.
“We look forward to delivering a top-tier product in short order here,” Aircraft Services Group President Andrew Reenstra said at the event.
Headquartered in Teterboro, New Jersey, the company offers jet acquisition, management, private charter, maintenance and aviation consulting services.
With its expansion in Sarasota, where it has signed a ground lease with SRQ, Aircraft Services Group has also launched Aircraft Services Hangar Group, a hangar management operation that offers hangar rental, fueling and jet services within a private facility.
The Sarasota location will become the company's southern headquarters, according to Reenstra.

“Aircraft Services Group chose SRQ because we believe deeply in Sarasota’s continued growth and in the airport’s role in serving that expanding community,” Reenstra says in an emailed response to a question from the Business Observer about why it selected Sarasota. “SRQ is uniquely positioned on the west coast of Florida to provide the aviation infrastructure, service and access that residents, businesses and visitors increasingly expect.”
The airport’s proximity to the community is a “meaningful advantage,” Reenstra adds. “It allows aircraft owners and operators to access high-quality aviation services close to where they live, work and conduct business — without the added travel time and congestion often associated with other airports.”
At the new hangar, people can drive up and get on a plane.
Construction on the company’s new hub at SRQ took about a year, according to Reenstra, who declined to disclose the cost.
According to Manatee County permit records, Halfacre Construction built the more than 35,000-square-foot facility, which was projected to cost $9.3 million.
The facility includes a 30,000-square-foot hangar and an additional 5,000 square feet that includes a private lounge, kitchen, offices and conference room. There is also a 20,000-gallon fuel farm at the site, which is at 925 Warhawk Place.

In 2024, the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority leased 5.44 acres in the north quadrant of the airport to Aircraft Services Group for 20 years with one 10-year renewal term. Included in the lease were two parcels of more than 100,000 square feet apiece.
On the first parcel, where the company proposed developing the 30,000-square-foot hangar, Aircraft Services Group estimated a minimum capital investment of $8.5 million would be required.
Within three years of developing the first parcel, the company is required to develop the second, where it proposed building another 30,000-square-foot hangar. The company estimated it would make a minimum capital investment of $7.5 million for that project.
“We're grateful they chose Sarasota as their home for this wonderful facility,” SRQ Executive Vice President and CFO Kevin Podsiad said at the ribbon-cutting event. “This is a vote of confidence in the future of aviation here in Sarasota, and we appreciate the trust that they put in us to have this long-term commitment and growth opportunity with them.”

Aircraft Services Group has 10 employees currently based out of SRQ, according to Reenstra. Jobs connected to the new hangar space include ground operations, pilots, charter sales and maintenance, among others.
The company's fleet includes 19 aircraft, with four permanently based out of Sarasota and “many others coming through on rotation,” Reenstra says.

In addition to SRQ and New Jersey, Aircraft Services Group has offices in Burbank, California, and Westchester and Farmington, New York.
While the more than 35-year-old business has a national presence, it provides personalized, white-glove service as a family-run business. Reenstra’s father, George, founded the company in 1990 “with some very straightforward principles: safety above all, take care of people, and it’s a business that’s built on handshakes and relationships," Reenstra said at the Oct. 1 event. "If you say you’re going to do something, it gets done.”
As president, Reenstra leads alongside CEO Peter Cuomo, whose sons both work for Aircraft Services Group as well. Reenstra credited Cuomo with being “the driving force behind our growth here at Aircraft Services Group,” whose vision and hard work helped make the new hangar a reality.
“Today's a milestone for us here as we get started and serve the community and the people, their friends, their family and businesses — we're very excited,” Reenstra said at the ribbon-cutting. “We believe in the growth of Sarasota airport, the community, and we look forward to a bright future.”
