An athletic training facility is holding a grand opening this week in Sarasota County. The event at D1 Training will be from noon to 4 p.m. March 28 at 501 N. Beneva Road, Suite 580.
Husband-and-wife duo Jeremy and Veda Milin own and operate the business. The couple decided to open D1 Training after moving to Sarasota and struggling to find an athletic facility that was both high-quality and affordable for their three active children, according to a statement. Jeremy Milin is a former professional soccer player and construction professional, while Veda Milin has a background in finance and small business support.
“We wanted to create a facility where athletes of all ages could train at a high level and feel supported,” Jeremy Milin says in the statement. “With D1 Training, we can provide an environment that inspires growth, builds confidence and helps every athlete reach their full potential.”

D1 Training offers group, semi-private, and one-on-one training. The company’s regimens are based on sports science and incorporate five components: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning and cool-down. There are programs for various age groups: 7 to 11 years old, 12 to 14 years old, 15 to 18 years old and adult.
Based in Tennessee, D1 Training was founded by former NFL player Will Bartholomew in 2001. The company has more than 135 locations nationwide with over 200 in development, according to a statement. Other D1 facilities in the region are in Lakewood Ranch, Brandon, Clearwater, Westchase, Lakeland, Tarpon Springs, Naples and Fort Myers. It costs between $480,000 and $934,000 to open a franchise. Locations run from 4,000 to 5,000 square feet. The average D1 Training facility, open for at least a year, generates $680,000 in annual revenue. The top location posted yearly revenue of more than $1.55 million.
At the grand opening of D1 Training in Sarasota, there will be a raffle, 10-yard dash contest, vertical jump contest, broad jump competition and vendor giveaways.
