A group of angel investors in Sarasota has backed a Sarasota-based software development startup. Bridge Angel Investors invested in Wire Wallet, which provides a noncustodial crypto wallet.

Founded in 2025, Wire Wallet says it creates a secure Web3 wallet experience; Web3 is a decentralized internet model using blockchain technology that enables users to own the platform. The company, on its website, says its created a "universal crypto wallet that brings your assets, identity and communities together in one simple place" and is "designed to reduce complexity while preserving self-custody."

Wire Wallet is free to download and use; the company does charge some fees "associated with specific transactions or services," it says.

“Wire Wallet is building ahead of the curve,” Bridge Angel Investors Executive Director Kim Miele says in a statement. “The passive wallet is a dead end. Wire [Wallet] is positioning for what replaces it, and doing it with the right foundation: user control, not platform control. That’s exactly the kind of infrastructure-focused innovation we look to support.”

Bridge Angel Investors has committed both capital and strategic guidance to accelerate Wire Wallet’s growth. While the group did not immediately disclose the amount of the investment, its threshold is $100,000, Bridge officials previously said in an interview with the Business Observer. Bridge's network of 40-plus investors includes entrepreneurs, founders and executives who provide mentorship as well as funding.

“Bridge Angel Investors brings more than capital,” Wire Wallet CEO David Leland says in a statement. “They bring experience, connectivity and a genuine commitment to helping companies scale. Being based in Sarasota connects us to a growing innovation ecosystem, and Bridge has been an important partner in that.”

Leland is a founder with two successful exits, including GroundCloud, a software platform that was acquired by Descartes Systems Group for $138 million in 2023. He is also on the board of directors for Suncoast Venture Studio, which builds tech companies from scratch in Sarasota, and is a member of Bridge.

“Sarasota County is building real momentum as a destination for high-growth technology companies,” Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County President and CEO Erin Silk says in the statement. “This partnership between Bridge Angel Investors and Wire Wallet reflects the kind of investment that drives innovation, strengthens capital formation, and supports long-term economic competitiveness.”
