The Dimmitt Automotive Group has begun construction on a new facility — and it's not a car dealership.

The fourth-generation Clearwater company is building a new showroom and service center for Cycle Springs Powersports, which sells personal watercraft, motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides.

Dimmitt bought Cycle Springs in 2023.

The work will include the demolition of the existing facilities on the same U.S. Highway 19 property. The work, Dimmitt says in a statement, includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art showroom as well as an on-site Powersports, Motorcycle, and Marine Service Center.

The project will “elevate both the sales and service experience while supporting continued growth,” according to the statement.

Cycle Springs will remain open in a temporary showroom during the duration of the work, though it is only accessible during construction from Highland Acres Drive. A ceremonial groundbreaking is planned for April 7.

Dimmitt first opened in 1924 when Larry Dimmitt Sr. settled in Clearwater and incorporated the Dimmitt Automotive Group. Today, the group operates 13 dealerships across the region, with stores in Pinellas County, Wesley Chapel, Sarasota and Homosassa in Citrus County.

Its auto brands include Toyota, Cadillac, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, McLaren, Aston Martin and Bentley.

As for Cycle Springs, its brands include Yamaha, Sea-Doo, Polaris, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Scarab, GEM, Slingshot and Kymco.
