The Manhattan Construction Group, one of the largest contractors in the region, has begun building a new office in Lee County where it will eventually relocate its local headquarters from Naples.

The 53,000-square-foot facility is being built at 14161 Jetport Loop. The company, which held a ceremonial groundbreaking on the site April 9, says in a statement that the new office will serve as “a centralized hub” for it and its sister companies Manhattan Road & Bridge, SafeZone and Spectrum Contracting.

Francis Rooney, chairman of the Manhattan Construction Group and a former local congressman, says in a statement that the new office positions the company “to better support the region’s evolving needs while reinforcing our long-term commitment to the communities we serve.” (Rooney, R-Naples, served in Congress from 2017 to 2021 and was U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See in the second George W. Bush Administration.)

In a follow up email, a spokesperson says the move also brings the company closer to its workforce. When the relocation happens, about 300 jobs will go to Lee; the majority of them are existing positions shifting from Collier County, says the spokesperson.

Manhattan Construction has been at its current offices at 3705 Westview Drive in Naples since about 2013. The company, at that time, bought a 58,484-square-foot manufacturing building and 2.71 acres of vacant land for $4.73 million.

According to the commercial real estate website Loopnet, the property where the new headquarters is being built is 3.4 acres and just off of Daniels Parkway, Interstate 75 and Treeline Avenue. It is about four miles from Southwest Florida International Airport.

Lee County property records show that the Rooney Real Estate Co., which shares a Tulsa, Oklahoma, address with Manhattan Construction, bought the land in July for $2.9 million.

Manhattan Construction, which has co-headquarters in Tulsa and locally, was founded in 1896 by L.H. Rooney, whose family still operates it.

Its biggest current project locally is the University of South Florida’s on-campus football stadium in Tampa. The stadium is being built on 10 acres and will seat 35,000.

Along with Tulsa and Southwest Florida, the company has six other office nationwide. The company says it offers general building, civil, transportation, pipeline and specialty construction services throughout the U.S. as well as in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Just last month, it was ranked No.1 on the Business Observer’s annual top 50 contractors list. It reported 1,983 employees and $2.24 billion in gross revenue in 2025.
