A Miami developer behind a $200 million luxury multifamily and mixed-use project in downtown Tampa has secured a grant to help build workforce units in the building.

LD&D says a $5.4 million grant from the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency allows it to add 30 income-eligible units at its DoMo at Cass Square project.

The units will make up less than 10% of the 360 apartments planned at the 27-story tower at 1110 E. Cass St.

Setting aside the units for those earning 80% and 140% of the area median income, LD&D says in a statement announcing the grant, “sets a precedent for how thoughtfully designed projects can serve both market-rate and moderate-income needs.”

Aside from the apartments, DoMo at Cass Square will have 40,000 square feet of retail and a 574-space parking podium. The project will also feature a rooftop restaurant and lounge along with more than 25,000 square feet of amenities, the developer says in the statement.

Among those amenities will be a co-working lounge, full-service gym and yoga room, wellness spa, library and kids’ playroom.

The development will also have a 178-room Element by Westin hotel.

Construction has not begun but a spokesperson says the development should be delivered by late 2027.
