Longtime Bealls executive Dan Doyle is retiring this week, after 35 years with the Bradenton retailer.
Doyle’s last day with the organization is scheduled for Oct. 17, according to a statement. He will remain an active member of the board of the R.M. Beall Sr. Charitable Foundation after retiring, the company says.
Doyle joined Bealls Inc. in 1990 as Director of Loss Prevention, where he built the company’s first professional loss prevention department from the ground up. He was promoted multiple times, though being named executive vice president and chief people officer in 2022. Under his direction, Bealls, the release states, “maintained industry-leading shrink results and established a strong culture of ethics, integrity and associate development.”

Before joining Bealls, Doyle worked in retail at Marshall Field’s in Chicago, Lord & Taylor in Houston and Lloyd M. Barber & Associates, where he began his career as a private investigator.
Doyle’s community involvement includes being a board member emeritus of Take Stock in Children; serving as treasurer and finance committee chair for the Suncoast Workforce Board; being on the board of HCA Florida Blake Hospital; and supporting Manatee County Crime Stoppers.
“Dan cares deeply about people,” Matt Beall, CEO and Chairman of Bealls Inc. says in the release. “His influence has been wide-reaching and deeply meaningful to thousands of people within and around this organization. He responds thoughtfully and without hesitation when someone needs help. He led our business with transparency, compassion, and gratitude for 35 years. His leadership style will carry on through those he has impacted at Bealls.
Privately held since it was founded in 1915, Bealls operates 660 retail stores in 22 states under the names bealls, Bealls Florida and Home Centric, and online at bealls.com and beallsflorida.com. The company had $1.93 billion in revenue in 2023 and has some 14,650 employees.
