Target is set to open its new 147,000-square-foot store in Pasco County, one of 300 new stores the Minnesota chain is building in the next decade.
The new store, which officially opens its doors Oct. 12, is in the Grove at Wesley Chapel just off Interstate 75. It is on a 16-acre plot south of World Market at the southeast corner of the intersection of Oakley Boulevard and Pink Flamingo Lane.
The retailer says it will employ about 170 at the site.
The new Wesley Chapel Target will have 16,000 square feet of groceries, a CVS Pharmacy, optical center and Starbucks Café.
It will also offer drive up and order pickup. And, Target says, customers throughout Wesley Chapel will have access to next-day delivery.
Target says in a statement that “with every grand opening, we’re getting closer to more consumers in support of our stores-as-hubs model, in which our stores serve as both shopping destinations and fulfillment hubs to deliver what guests need, when and where they need it.”
Stores already fulfill 95% of the retailer’s digital orders, including same-day delivery service with Target Circle 360, which currently reaches 80% of the U.S. population, the statement says.
The new store is the third Target has opened in Florida this year, with locations in Bradenton and Wildwood opening in August.
In addition to the Pasco store, Target is opening four other stores Oct. 12 — Arizona, Virginia, Nebraska and South Carolina — two Oct. 19 — Texas and California. All but the store in Stafford, Texas, will be more than 140,000 square feet.
The Texas store is 125,000 square feet, which is the company average.
The Grove is a 250-acre shopping center in Pasco. Its current tenant roster includes Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Michaels, PetSmart, TJ Maxx and Ulta. There is also a container park on the property with retail shops and restaurants.
