Kroger to cut 1,403 jobs statewide, 234 in Tampa

Just about four years after it began delivering groceries in Florida, supermarket giant The Kroger Co. is closing its distribution facilities across the state and cutting 1,403 jobs.

The cuts will affect fulfillment centers in Jacksonville, Cocoa Beach and Tampa, but the biggest impact will be in Lake County, where the company operated a massive robotics-centric 375,000-square-foot distribution center and is cutting 935 jobs lost with the closure.

In Cocoa Beach, 53 jobs are being eliminated, in Jacksonville the number is 181 and in Tampa it’s 234.
