U.S. News & World Report recently released its list of the best nursing homes, issuing ratings on a five-point scale, with more than 30 facilities in the region earning the top rank of five points.
The publication assessed nearly 15,000 nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities nationwide, including 695 in Florida. To rate the facilities, the U.S. News team analyzed staffing, health outcomes and safety data, looking at both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.
In Florida, 116 nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities received an overall rating of five out of five.
These nursing homes across the region achieved ratings of five out of five, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes list:
About 8% of adults age 85 and up in the United States live in a nursing home on any given day, according to U.S. News.
“Choosing a nursing facility, whether for post-acute rehabilitation – such as recovering from surgery like a hip replacement, a serious injury like a fracture or managing the aftermath of a stroke – or long-term residency, is one of the most crucial health care decisions a family can make,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, says in a statement. “This year’s Best Nursing Homes ratings are the most comprehensive yet, with a significantly expanded portfolio of performance measures that offer families an even more holistic assessment of quality for both short-term rehab and long-term care.”
U.S. News & World Report has been publishing its Best Nursing Homes list since 2009.
