IMG Academy, the sports education brand with a school in Bradenton, has acquired SportsRecruits. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
SportsRecruits focuses on using technology to help student-athletes get recruited to compete at the collegiate level. The company operates an online network that it says is used by 400,000 athletes and 2,000 club and high school organizations daily. Its platform enables students to create profiles for themselves, including videos. They can also create target lists showcasing which schools they are interested in pursuing. In addition, the platform allows colleges to report what their roster needs are and search for candidates.
“Partnering with IMG Academy amplifies our ability to deliver top-notch resources and opportunities to student-athletes everywhere,” SportsRecruits co-founder and CEO Chris Meade says in a statement.
IMG Academy has recently been expanding its reach, from adding softball and volleyball to its on-campus sports to offering online personal development programs.
"The evolving opportunities for student-athletes create a new obligation to teach, support and prepare our families to meet the moment,” IMG Academy CEO Brent Richard says in the statement. “Through our existing products and services, and now with SportsRecruits, we are helping student-athletes realize their dreams and enjoy the benefits that come from continuing their academic and athletic careers in college."
With the acquisition, Sports Recruits joins fellow subsidiary NCSA College Recruiting in the IMG Academy portfolio. NCSA College Recruiting also offers a platform to connect student-athletes with college coaches, plus it provides developmental coaching services.
“NCSA and SportsRecruits creates a holistic, best-in-class solution for student-athletes and their families, club coaches and event operators,” Rick McDole, COO of IMG Academy Online, says in the statement. “Our complementary strengths will more effectively connect student-athletes with college coaches and help student-athletes and their families find the right college fit."
