Eagle Healthcare LLC is laying off 250 workers across Florida, including in Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties, after losing a contract. The company notified state officials of the job cuts in letters that were posted to the Florida Department of Commerce Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification website on May 23.

Statewide, Eagle Healthcare is “permanently reducing its workforce due to the unexpected loss of a significant contract, which has had a substantial impact on our operations,” the WARN letters say. Employees will be terminated from 11 locations around Florida.

Locations in the region that are impacted by the cuts are 1351 San Christopher Drive in Dunedin; 206 W. Orange St. in Davenport, Polk County; and 1755 18th St. in Sarasota. Eagle Healthcare will lay off 23 employees in Dunedin and 22 workers each in Davenport and in Sarasota, according to the WARN letters. The last day of work for the terminated employees will be July 14, and the company will provide information on unemployment benefits and job placement services.

Additional offices where layoffs are occurring include Dania Beach, Greenville, Jacksonville, Lake Worth, Oakland Park, Miami, Monticello and Port Saint Joe.

Attempts to reach the Eagle Healthcare contact listed in the WARN letters by phone and email for more information were unsuccessful. Nobody answered the phone number provided, and the email address given to the state was not valid. It is not clear what services Eagle Healthcare LLC provides or where it is headquartered.

In mid-May, another health services firm in the area announced layoffs, citing shifting public policy priorities at the federal level. GroundGame.Health in Tampa cut 97 jobs in that case.
