A recent event in Sarasota held at DutchCrafters Amish Furniture showcased American-made Amish furniture as a viable option, even amid industry uncertainty caused by the Trump Administration's tariffs.

Dubbed Tree to Table: A Designer Mingle, the June 11 event was hosted in partnership with the Interior Design Society (IDS) of Sarasota. Designers, decorators and industry professionals attended the event.

Ivan and Caleb Hochstetler, a father-son Amish woodworking team behind DutchCrafters’ best-selling Prairie Collection, spoke about their products at the event, according to a statement. The duo produces approximately 50,000 chairs annually across 27 unique styles, serving both residential and commercial markets, DutchCrafters says. The “pieces feature expert joinery, including finger joints and mortise-and-tenon construction, ensuring long-lasting durability and strength,” the release states.

The Hochstetlers also operate a working tree farm in Ohio. After seeing a commercial about deforestation in 1994, the family was inspired to plant their first trees in 1995. Today, they are beginning to selectively harvest from that early planting — bringing the “tree to table” concept full circle, DutchCrafters says.

In addition to showroom events, DutchCrafters says it offers free in-home interior design consultations, “bringing personalized service directly to customers' homes.” DutchCrafters was founded in 2003 and has showrooms in Sarasota and Alpharetta, Georgia, in addition to a high-volume e-commerce business. Its customizable furniture is crafted by Amish woodworkers in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. DutchCrafters CEO Jim Miller was a Business Observer Top Entrepreneur in 2022.
