Benderson Development, the east Manatee County real estate company, is adding Publix stores to two of its Southwest Florida projects.

One of the stores will be in Naples and one in Venice. A timeline for when construction will start and when the stores will open was not immediately available.

In Venice, Publix will anchor the North River Marketplace, a 51-acre ground-up development located along the North River Road corridor at Interstate 75, according to a statement.

And in Naples, Publix will open a new store at the Gateway Shoppes on U.S. Highway 41 at Wiggins Pass Road. The center, says Benderson, is undergoing a major redevelopment which will bring a new tenant lineup that will include retail and dining.

Publix currently operates 1,434 stores in eight states. Of those, 889 are in Florida.

The Lakeland grocer employs more than 260,000 and had $59.7 billion in sales in 2024.

Benderson was founded in 1949 and has a portfolio that includes more than 1,000 properties in 40 states totaling more than 55 million square feet.
