Global hospitality brand Hilton together with its partners announced Wednesday plans to build a 50-story, 163 unit luxury residential property under the moniker Waldorf Astoria Residences St. Petersburg. Once completed it is set to become the tallest building in St. Petersburg.
Each residence will be two or three bedrooms, ranging from 2,031 square feet to 3,408 square feet, and have expansive terraces with bay views. The tower will also have a two-story rooftop penthouse residence that encompasses 10,000 square feet with a private pool overlooking the bay.
There will be 43,000 square feet dedicated to amenities, almost half of which will be dedicated to a resort-style pool deck. An amenities suite, housed on level 18, will feature private massage rooms, saunas and steam rooms, a fitness center and movement studio.
Additional amenities will include a restaurant, pet spa and common spaces for kids and teens.
The ground floor will have over 73,000 square feet of Class-A office space and about 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space will be open to the public.
“The introduction of the Waldorf Astoria brand into St. Petersburg is a testament to the natural progression and extensive growth the city has undergone over the past few years,” says Larry Feldman, CEO of Feldman Equities in a statement. “Along with our partners, we have witnessed St. Pete’s incredible rise and are eager to deliver a product to this thriving area that meets the new elevated caliber of living desired by its residents. I cannot wait to see all of the opportunities and incredible experiences the new development will contribute to this downtown.”
The Waldorf Astoria originally opened in New York City in 1893. Conrad Hitlon, the founder of Hilton Hotels, purchased the management rights to the hotel in 1949 and full ownership in 1972. The brand became a chain in 2006. Hilton currently has 15 Waldorf Astoria properties in its portfolio either open or in development according to its website.
