Construction is moving ahead on a two-story addition for a Lakewood Ranch veterinary clinic.
The Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch is adding 12,000 square feet to its existing 6,300-square-foot facility at Lorraine Road and State Road 70. The new addition is expected to meet emergency and specialty services demand, according to the press release. The project's budget is $3.58 million, according to a company spokesperson.
Halfacre Construction Company recently broke ground on the addition and expects it to be complete by winter 2023. The Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company is also overseeing site upgrades including landscaping, irrigation, site lighting, parking and hardscape.
The two-story facility will add 13 exam rooms, two treatment areas, a designated animal blood donation room and animal blood bank, additional surgery rooms and isolation facilities for infectious diseases.
Currently, the medical center, which was completed in 2020, has seven exam rooms, a surgery suite, a full laboratory, a dental suite and a reception area.
