SARASOTA — Information technology and physical security managed service provider Current Technologies Corp. has hired Michelle Olivo as its new vice president of business development.

The company has been in operation in the Chicago area since 1997 and recently opened a Florida division headquartered in Sarasota. Olivo was brought on to help Current Technologies’ new Florida division accelerate growth in the Florida market, according to a press release.

Olivo comes with experience in entrepreneurship, networking and business development. In previous roles, she was responsible for the success of multiple Sarasota area businesses, the release says.

“We are very excited to bring such an energetic and well-respected community leader to our team here in Sarasota!" says Current Technologies CEO Steve Daugherty in a statement. "Michelle’s knowledge of the community combined with Current Technologies’ knowledge of IT, Surveillance and Access Control Technologies will definitely be a winning combination for businesses in the Greater Sarasota area!”

Current Technologies provides IT security solutions including video, door management and video analytics to local governments, education facilities and small to medium businesses. The company expanded to Florida in late 2020.

“I cannot wait to introduce Sarasota and all of Florida to the IT Services and Security Solutions that Current Technologies has been delivering to the Chicago market for the last 20+ years," says Olivo in a statement. "Their experience, client service, and industry leading technology will be well embraced by our growing professional market in Sarasota.”
