Interior design firm relocates in Sarasota

An interior design firm based in Sarasota is moving locations across town in mid-November. Innovative Design Solutions will relocate from 7500 S. Tamiami Trail, where it has been on US 41 for almost 20 years. Its new home will be about 10 miles north on Northgate Boulevard, in an area the store’s owners say is an up-and-coming hub for designers.

“The decision to move was a combination of factors: Our lease was up, we wanted to downsize, and also we wanted to be closer to the design district that seems to be growing in that area of town,” Innovative Design Solutions owners Cherie Thurlby and Tim Marshall say in an email responding to questions from the Business Observer about the move.

Innovative Design Solutions provides interior design services for residential, hospitality and commercial spaces. Its clients span the west coast of Florida from Parrish to Boca Grande. The firm provides a direct-to-consumer resource for furniture, fabrics, accessories and window treatments (including blinds, shades, shutters and draperies), plus in-home consultation.

The location on South Tamiami Trail was about 1,850 square feet, while the new store at 1800 Northgate Blvd., Unit A-3, will be approximately 1,400 square feet, the owners say.

Some of the design-oriented businesses in the Northgate area include International Design Source, Tepe Upholstery and La Casa Tile & Flooring.

Currently, Innovative Design Solutions is holding a moving sale at its South Tamaimi Trail store through Nov. 12. After that, the owners say they will be relocating to Northgate.
