Wire manufacturer acquires hot product line

Pelican Wire takes over fellow manufacturer’s high-temperature wire designs and equipment.

NAPLES — Pelican Wire has completed the purchase of a portion of the Serv-Rite  insulated thermocouple manufacturing business from Watlow Electric. The agreement, which includes machinery, design and manufacturing process information and customer account data, specifically effects the high-temperature ceramic and vitreous silica (high-temperature glass) constructions.

Watlow, based in St. Louis, has begun transferring both design and manufacturing knowledge of the product line to Pelican Wire, which already manufacturers its own similar products, so the transition is expected to be seamless. Additionally, all the equipment used to manufacture the wire is included as part of the transfer. Naples-based Pelican Wire will begin quoting and accepting orders on new and existing wire designs on or before Oct. 1, according to a statement.
