Southwest Florida entrepreneurs will have a chance to participate in a kindler, gentler version of "Shark Tank" at the area debut 1 Million Cups Naples event at 9 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Naples Accelerator, 3510 Kraft Road, Suite 200.
Based on the belief that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, Kansas City-based Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012 as a free program to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs nationwide. It will be the first of planned monthly 1MC events to be held at the accelerator.
“1 Million Cups is a great way to connect entrepreneurs and startups with the Southwest Florida community,” Jace Kentner, director of the Collier County Office of Business & Economic Development, says in a statement. “Collier County is known as a community of retired CEOs, executives, serial entrepreneurs and venture investors, and we hope young businesses can learn from their years of expertise.”
Two entrepreneurs will have six minutes each to pitch an innovative idea, product or business and tell the audience how their product or service can help people. Audience members then have 20 minutes to ask questions, discuss ideas and learn how they can help.
The first event features Logiscool, a computer-coding school for kids and teens that is franchising in Florida, and Marvee, a voice-first design company that specializes in building voice experiences for older adults, families and senior living through Alexa and Google.
Businesses younger than five years old with an innovative idea can present at 1 Million Cups by visiting 1millioncups.com/present. For information, call 239-252-8591.
