Company breaks ground on new headquarters

LAKEWOOD RANCH — Sarasota-based medical supply company Mercedes Medical broke ground on its 60,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Lakewood Ranch.

The headquarters will be in the CORE development in Lakewood Ranch, a 305-acre biotech industrial district. CORE stands for Collaboration Opportunities for Research and Exploration. It will include office space, retail, restaurants and outdoor activity areas.

According to a press release, Mercedes Medical purchased the 5-acre parcel the headquarters will be built on for $900,000.
