PORT CHARLOTTE — Atlanta-based Guardian Pharmacy, one of the largest long-term care pharmacies in the country, acquired Patient Care Pharmacy Services in Charlotte County, which provides medicines for assisted living communities from Naples to Sarasota.
Terms of the deal weren't released.
Patient Care joins Guardian Pharmacy's six Florida locations, according to a release. The list includes Guardian Pharmacy of Daytona, Guardian Pharmacy of Jacksonville, Guardian Pharmacy of Northwest Florida, Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida and Guardian Pharmacy of Tampa. Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida also partnered in this acquisition, the release states.
“This strategic partnership with Guardian and Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida provides our pharmacy with business resources and support so that we can focus even more on our customer relationships,” Patient Care founder Mike Klein says in the statement.
Klein founded Patient Care in 2000. He will remain director of pharmacy operations, while Alan Traster, president of Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida, was named president of the southwest Florida pharmacy. Traster, the release states, brings more than 35 years experience to the position.
Founded in 2004, Guardian Pharmacy serves more than 52,000 residents of long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities and skilled nursing homes across 14 states.
