NAPLES — The assets of the Community Foundation of Collier County grew 56% since June 2014, the nonprofit group announced.
With more than $100 million in assets, the Community Foundation of Collier County now ranks among the 10 largest community foundations in Florida.
“The national average for community foundations is $254 million, and that is what we would like to reach,” says Community Foundation President and CEO Eileen Connolly-Keesler, in a statement. “If we are able to get to that level we would be able to make an even bigger impact in Collier County and help change so many more lives for the better.”
Over the past year, the foundation has distributed $9.8 million to nonprofit organizations. These included The Community School, the Greater Marco Family YMCA and the Naples Botanical Garden.
Of the foundation's $100 million in assets, approximately 80% are donor-advised funds and designated funds. About $15.5 million of the foundation's assets are tagged as unrestricted dollars that the foundation can use to respond quickly to community needs.
“The ratio of unrestricted dollars to total assets is somewhat higher in the majority of other community foundations and we think that it is important to increase our unrestricted pool,” says Connolly-Keesler in the statement.
