FORT MYERS — A federal judge sentenced Cape Coral residents Jeffrey Green, 51, and Karen Hebble, 44, to prison for unlawful drug distribution and money laundering through a pharmacy.

U.S. District Judge John Steele sentenced Green, the former owner of Gulf Coast Medical Pharmacy, to seven years in prison. He also sentenced Hebble, the pharmacy's manager, to five years in prison.

According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office, Green and Hebble unlawfully sold pain medication oxycodone and laundered the proceeds. A federal jury found them guilty on May 1.

Steele ordered a judgment of $4.9 million against Green and Hebble, which represented the proceeds of the unlawful sales of oxycodone. Steele also ordered Green to forfeit nearly $1.3 million from his company's bank account and $347,424 used to pay the mortgage on his Cape Coral home. In addition, the judge ordered Green to forfeit his pharmacy technician's license and his interest in the pharmacy.
