NAPLES — The Community Foundation of Collier County's $2.4 million in grants in the first three months of this year was nearly double the amount in the same period last year.

Approximately $2.3 million of the quarterly grant total came from the foundation's donor-advised funds. Such funds allow donors to participate by suggesting grant recipients. The number of donor-advised funds at the foundation has increased by 15% since the beginning of the fiscal year.

A little over half of the donor-advised fund grants were distributed to Collier County agencies, including NCH Healthcare System, Naples Community Church and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

“These dollars fuel programs that meet local challenges and improve the quality of life in our region,” says the foundation's president and CEO, Eileen Connolly-Keesler, in a statement. “We track the vital signs and we know how pressing the needs are in terms of homelessness, hunger, healthcare, the arts, the environment and issues facing women and girls in Collier County.”
