Hertz expands equipment rental to Panama

NAPLES — Rental giant Hertz is expanding its construction-equipment division to Panama, where the government plans to spend billions of dollars in infrastructure improvements.

Hertz, which relocated its corporate headquarters to Southwest Florida from New Jersey last year, says the government of Panama plans to spend $15 billion to $20 billion in the next three to five years expanding the Panama Canal and building roads, airports, hospitals and homes.

“This significant launch provides the market with a first class, value-added equipment rental supplier in Panama,” says Brian MacDonald, interim CEO of Hertz, in a statement. “In addition, it enables Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation to extend its international footprint into one of the fastest growing markets within Latin America."
