Women trail men in seats in the corporate boardroom, but it turns out they are way ahead in other areas.

Take work/life balance, for example.

Four out of 10 women business owners, according to a new survey from BMO Harris Bank, say they have good work/life balance. That trumps 29% of men business owners who say they have a good work/life balance. Women, the survey shows, also value work/life balance for their employees more than men. Nearly six out of 10, 57%, consider that “very important” against 44% of men. The survey, finally, found that nearly a third of men say they try to have a work/life balance but “often” work too much. That's nearly double the amount of women, 17%, who responded that way, the survey shows.

“We are seeing some positive changes in the small business sector, with more women now starting their own businesses than in the past,” says Mollie Gawronski, head of small business strategy for BMO Harris Bank, in a release. “The results of our survey further drive home that female small business owners are making strides, with an 11% lead over men when it comes to saying they've found a work/life balance.”
