Florida Virtual Academy approved to operate in Hillsborough
The Florida Virtual Academy has been approved by the Hillsborough County Public Schools as a new public charter school in the county. The school, which will use curriculum, technology, and school services provided by K12 Inc., will initially serve students in grades K-8 next school year. It plans to expand and offer high school grades in the following years.

The Florida Virtual Academy at Hillsborough County will follow all state accountability standards and requirements, including attendance requirements and participation in state assessments.

Florida Virtual Academy public charter schools are currently operating in Palm Beach, Broward, Duval, Pasco and Osceola counties. In addition to Hillsborough County, Pinellas and Clay counties have also approved Florida Virtual Academy charter schools to open in 2014.
