ST. PETERSBURG - St. Petersburg was named the seventh worst city in America for food lovers, according to the Movoto Real Estate Blog.

Movoto ranked the 100 most populous cities in the U.S. based on restaurants per capita, bakeries per capita, food trucks per capita, ice cream shops per capita, candy shops per capita, food and wine festivals per capita, caterers per capita and gourmet grocery stores per capita.

Each city was ranked from one to 100, one being the worst for foodies, for each of the nine categories. The data was accumulated through Yelp reviews.

As the blog says, “There was nothing sweet about how St. Petersburg fared” in the candy shop category. There is one candy shop for every 81,666 residents. St. Petersburg also had the fewest bakeries per capita, with one for every 17,500 people.

Also, it must be hard to host an event in St. Pete with the smallest concentration of caterers per capita, one for every 48,999 people.

Hialeah ranked 37th on the list.

Florida shouldn't despair, however. Orlando ended up being the best place for restaurants and fared well in other categories as well.
