SARASOTA — Voalte, a fast-growing mobile health care firm that facilitates communication among medical center employees, connected with a hospital 4,000 miles away in Barrow, Alaska, for its latest client.

The new client is Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Barrow, according to a release. The hospital will use the Voalte One application, the company says, which allows caregivers to make voice calls and send secure text messages over the hospital's Wi-Fi system. Samuel Simmonds will incorporate Voalte smartphones in all units and areas of the hospital.

“Our main objectives are to improve workflow and minimize noise,” Samuel Simmonds Director of Nursing Andrew Bertapelle says in the release. “With Voalte in place, our caregivers will be able to achieve these goals while simultaneously increasing time by the bedside. It's a win for both our clinicians and our patients.”

Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital, Voalte's first client in Alaska, is one of the oldest health care facilities in the state and is the primary hospital for the North Slope region. Barrow is the northernmost city in the United States. For more on Voalte, which has around 125 employees, click here.
