A few more venture capitalists found their way to Florida in the third quarter compared with the same quarter a year ago.

In the third quarter, Florida companies landed 12 venture capital deals totaling $104.2 million. In the same period in 2012, there were 10 venture capital deals totaling $28.8 million in the state, according to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers/National Venture Capital Association.

Before you get too excited about the jump, consider that California landed 402 venture capital deals totaling $4.3 billion in the third quarter. The U.S. as a whole landed 1,005 deals totaling $7.8 billion in funding in the third quarter.
