DESTIN — Another Broken Egg Cafe says it has signed an agreement with Louisiana-based Double R Restaurant Group to open 40 restaurants in South Florida, including the region from Tampa to Naples. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The agreement also includes Double R's purchase of Broken Egg Cafe in Siesta Key and Lakewood Ranch. An announcement doesn't say how many stores it will open from Tampa to Naples, but the plan is to open six to eight per year from Orlando to Key West along both coasts.

“This initiative is a part of ABEC's strategy to have over 100 restaurants in operation by the end of 2017,” says Vice President of Brand Development Nick Binnings, in a statement. “We are currently negotiating leases in Tampa, Sarasota, Naples and the east coast of Florida.”

“We are very excited about expanding ABEC into South Florida,” says Double R Restaurant Group Chief Operating Officer Stuart Ottinger.  “ABEC is a phenomenal concept and South Florida possesses a lot of opportunity for growth. We are eager to get into this market and aggressively open stores to become the standard for quality breakfast, brunch and lunch.”

Another Broken Egg Cafe currently operates 28 restaurants. Entrepreneur Ron Green founded the first one in 1996 in Old Mandeville, La. The restaurants are open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer 90 menu choices including six varieties of eggs benedict and items such as biscuit beignets, blackberry grits, sweet potato pancakes, shrimp and grits, crab cakes and salmon.
