TAMPA — Masonite International Corp.'s former CEO, Kenneth W. Freeman, resigned from the company's board of directors.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished together and I am confident in the company's future,” Freeman says in a press release.

Freeman played a pivotal role in Tampa-based Masonite, a global door manufacturer of doors, over the years. The company had sales of $1.7 billion in 2012.

Peter R. Dachowski was named to replace Freeman. Dachowski spent 35 years in numerous roles with CertainTeed Corporation, a manufacturer of exterior residential and building envelope construction products, and its parent company, Saint-Gobain, most recently serving as CertainTeed's chairman/CEO. Dachowski is a senior adviser to Graham Partners, a middle-market private equity firm.

In June, Masonite announced it had reached an agreement to pay $12.5 million for Masisa SA, a door manufacturer in Chile.

Earlier this year, Masonite announced plans to once again become a public company. Masonite, founded in 1925, filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating its intent to raise $150 million in an initial public offering.

Masonite was acquired by private equity firm Kolberg Kravis & Roberts Co. in 2005.
