Top executives can add something new to their list of priorities: Make sure the employee bathroom is in tiptop shape.
That's because 93% of respondents in a new survey say they believe the condition of a workplace restroom indicates how a company values its workforce. Bradley Corp., a commercial restroom furnishings manufacturer, commissioned the survey.
The good news is nearly two-thirds of respondents, 61%, rate their workplace restroom excellent or very good. A small minority, only 6%, says they have a poor or terrible work restroom, the survey shows.
The report, the fifth annual national Healthy Hand Washing Survey, also looks at another thorny issue for executives and business owners: sick employees. Thankfully, 81% of respondents say they take conscious steps to avoid the germs of sick colleagues. (Coffee Talk wonders what the other 19% do.)
The survey says the most common ways people deal with sick people at work include:
Stay away from them;
Wash their own hands more frequently;
Shun handshakes with sickies;
Stand further away when talking;
Tell them to go home.
