TAMPA — Tampa International Airport announced late Thursday that a new carrier, Sun Country, will begin offering nonstop service from Tampa to its base in Minneapolis/St. Paul four times a week beginning in December.

According to a news release from the airport, introductory fares from Tampa to Minneapolis/St. Paul will start at $170 one way. Sun Country will provide service Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

“We're delighted to add a new airline to our air service options,” says Chris Minner, vice president of marketing for TIA in a release. “And we're delighted to connect more travelers from the Midwest to all that the west coast of Florida has to offer.”

The airline, which was founded in 1982 and has been named a top 10 domestic airline by Travel + Leisure magazine and Conde Nast Traveler, will also add new service from the Midwest to Huatulco, Mexico.
