FORT MYERS -- Robb & Stucky International is set to resume business operations in 2012. The firm will open a new 60,000-square-foot showroom on Jan. 12, at 13170 South Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers, the company has announced.
Chinese entrepreneur Samuel Kuo, founder and CEO of Samson Holdings, acquired the Robb & Stucky brand name for $470,000 last summer, shortly after the furniture retailer filed for bankruptcy in February.
Kuo has selected Steven Lush to lead Robb & Stucky International as president. Lush says the company has hired back many of the company's former employees, “and have also brought in several key executives from outside the former company to bring a fresh perspective.” The furniture retailer employed 1,300 workers shortly before filing for bankruptcy.
In its last complete fiscal year, Robb & Stucky generated $139.7 million in sales — down 49% from its 2006 sales of $273.7 million. The company that would come to be known as Robb & Stucky was founded in 1915.
