Ceridian Corp., a Minnesota company with more than 1,000 employees in the St. Petersburg area, is set to acquire Dayforce Corp. Financial terms were not disclosed.

A year ago, Ceridian was approved for nearly $2 million in tax refunds to support its local hiring efforts, shortly after the company announced it would spend $1.5 million to upgrade its 400,000-square-foot St. Petersburg facility.

The Dayforce acquisition complements Ceridian's human resource, payroll/benefits, and timesheet management offerings, a release explains.

Ceridian generated roughly $1.5 billion in revenues in 2010. Stuart Harvey Jr. leads the company as CEO and president.
