TAMPA — A new Spanish-language TV network, MundoFox, is set to air on Tampa Bay's WSPF Channel 35 beginning Aug. 13.
According to a release, Prime Time Partners LLC, which operates local TV stations in Boston, Philadelphia and WSPF in Tampa Bay, has agreed to make these stations local MundoFox affiliates.
The new content comes after WSPF, the city of St. Petersburg's analog government channel, was sold to Miami Lakes-based Prime Time Partners in November, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
"MundoFox original programming will offer our audience in Boston, Philadelphia and Tampa with a new direction in Spanish-language entertainment, all in high-definition, through our free over-the-air signal," Jose Rodriguez, CEO and president of Prime Time Partners, says in a release.
Los Angeles headquartered MundoFox is an over-the air Spanish network that is a joint venture between News Corp.'s Fox International Channels and RCN Television Group. The network said in May it had secured affiliates to reach close to 70% of the U.S. Hispanic market. The network will include a national newscast, shows, children's educational programs and more.
