ST. PETERSBURG — Longtime Progress Energy Florida President Vincent Dolan announced he will retire by the end of the year.
Alexander Glenn, currently the general counsel for the utility, will replace Dolan, according to a release. Progress Energy is a subsidiary of Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy. Duke acquired Progress in a $32 billion deal that closed earlier this summer, though the purchase has come under regularity scrutiny for leadership changes.
Dolan has been with Progress and its predecessor companies since 1986. He was named president in 2009, and previously ran external relations, customer service, operations and corporate strategic planning at the company. Dolan, 57, is also well known for his work in several community charitable organizations.
Glenn, meanwhile, has been with Progress since 1996, the release states. He has overseen all legal and regulatory matters with the utility since 2008. Glenn previously practiced energy law at a Washington, D.C., firm.
Progress provides electricity and related services to more than 1.6 million Florida customers.
