TAMPA — Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay has won the Platinum Summit Award from its national organization.
The award recognizes local JA offices with success in financial health, program quality, management effectiveness and program growth, a release explains. The Tampa Bay franchise has received the honor the past 24 years, second-most consecutively among the organization's 120 local franchises.
Additionally, JA of Tampa Bay and its staff received the 2012 Peak Performance Team Award, which recognizes outstanding performance by a local Junior Achievement office. To qualify, the office had to show a strong financial position and positive student growth, a release says.
JA of Tampa Bay educated 85,279 students in the last school year throughout Tampa Bay. The local franchise received its awards recently at the Junior Achievement National Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids, Mich.
“The board and staff of Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay are proud to receive this recognition for working for a cause we feel passionate about — giving students knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship,” Richard George, president of Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay, says in a release. “At Junior Achievement, we help young people own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.”
