State to aid Riverwalk project

BRADENTON — The Bradenton Riverwalk, the city's signature redevelopment project, will receive nearly $500,000 in state grants.

One grant, $400,000, is from the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Those funds will be for construction, permits and design. The Florida Wildlife Commission, through a boating improvement program, will provide the second grant, for $99,500. That will go toward a dock extension of the project.

The $6 million project is scheduled to open in October.
