Manatee pays $201K for 155 jobs

Manatee County commissioners approved roughly $200,000 in incentives to support the hiring efforts of three local companies, all of which chose not to disclose their names until further along in the hiring process.

Half of the newly approved funds will go to a manufacturing company being referred to by commissioners as “Project Camellia” for the creation of 100 new jobs over the next five years. Those jobs will pay an average wage of $38,465, or 115% of the average annual salary in Manatee.

Another $83,000 will go toward a medical manufacturing company, code named “Project Sharp.” That company will hire 25 new employees, paying an average wage of $66,896.
