LECOM Dental School plans backed with county incentives

Manatee County commissioners awarded Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine $203,300 in incentives to develop the LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Lakewood Ranch.


LECOM plans to invest $52 million in developing the school, according to the Manatee Economic Development Council. It is expected to employ 200 people.


Commissioners approved an economic development incentive grant of up to $174,000 over four years and transportation impact fee refunds of up to $29,300. The LECOM School of Dental Medicine is scheduled to open in 2012.
