TAMPA — The University of South Florida Foundation brought in more than $111 million in fund raising over its 2010-2011 fiscal year, setting a new record by more than $30 million.

A statement from USF says 44,837 people donated to the foundation, including more than 2,700 faculty and staff members. Of the $111 million raised, roughly $72 million has been designated for academic programs, $20 million will go toward facility construction, and $11 million will be used for scholarships, the statement says.

The University of South Florida operates under a system-wide annual budget of $1.5 billion, and serves 47,000 students in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and Lakeland.
