Rick Scott leads Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum in the race for the Republican nomination for governor, and current Gov. Charlie Crist has the edge in the race for the state's U.S. Senate seat, the latest political polls suggest.
The most recent polling results were released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Political Institute on June 18. The organization found Scott to have the support of 35% of those likely to vote in a Republican primary, while McCollum garnered just 30% support. A significant number of voters, roughly 33%, remain undecided.
The same group found that 42% of likely voters would support Crist, running as an independent, in the state's upcoming election for the U.S. Senate. Republican Marco Rubio has 31% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kendrick Meek has 14% support.
The Chamber's Institute is not alone in its findings: polls released by Quinnipiac University on June 9 and 10 agree with these most recent results.
