WellSpring plans new church, daycare

WellSpring Church is seeking approvals from the city of Sarasota to redevelop a furniture store a few miles north of downtown.


The church wants to convert the 19,135-square-foot former Unisource building, at 2034 Harvard St., into a 160-seat church and a daycare facility.


“We are hoping to start there on July 1,” says pastor David Wilson. “We were really interested in that location. It will be more appealing to people that live in downtown. We also do a lot of outreach in downtown.”


The church currently holds services in the Longwood Park Community Building near University Parkway and Interstate 75.


The church plans to devote its resources to the interior of the building, where it will create office space, the daycare facility and a chapel. It will also develop a playground in back of the building.
