A 2009 acquisition helped raise net sales for Superior Uniform Group Inc. (symbol: SGC), and better efficiency helped profit margins increase, as well.
The company posted $26.63 million in net sales in the recently concluded quarter, a 7% year-over-year gain. In a release, CEO Michael Benstock explained that the company's purchase of Blade Sportswear in late 2009 contributed to the increase.
Gains in earnings per share were even sharper, up 42% from last year's total, from $0.12 in 2009 to $0.17 this year. Benstock said there was more to the increase than help from Blade.
“This substantial improvement in earnings is partially due to the increased net sales in the current period and more significantly as a result of our streamlined cost structure,” he said.
Founded in 1920, Seminole-based Superior Uniform Group Inc. generated more than $105 million in revenue over the past 12 months.
