SunTrust Tampa Bay names CEO

TAMPA - SunTrust Banks Inc. named Allen Brinkman the new chairman, president, and CEO of SunTrust Banks, Tampa Bay. Prior to his most recent appointment, Brinkman served as a regional president and executive vice president for Wachovia.

Going forward, the 17-year banking industry veteran will also serve on the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp.'s executive committee, a release said.

Brinkman replaces Daniel Mahurin, who was recently promoted to president and CEO of SunTrust's Gulf Coast/North Florida division. Mahurin will oversee operations in Tampa Bay, North Florida and Southwest Florida in his new role.
